Mon 28 Apr 08: Waffles :)

Yesterday I had waffles. :) It's been almost two years since I last tasted waffles and that last time was nothing to cheer about as the waffle was a quarter piece, dried up, a little burnt, and somewhat soggy, so I knew it had been sitting on the plate for a while, even though the wait was about twenty minutes from the time the order was placed to the time it was served. I was less than impressed.
Yesterday was a totally different story. :) Brynja invited us over. We saw her whip up the batter and spoon it onto the waffle iron. She made enough for 5 in the the time it took for the above quarter piece to be ordered and served. Plus, the waffles were hot, not over-baked, served up with freshly whipped cream and chocolate as well as my favorite type of jam. :) Add to that the congenial company... Well, it doesn't get any better. :) Thanks, Brynja!
I tried to call my sister later, but never managed to get through.
Today, I continued my chair search. The chair I tentatively looked at before was not nearly as nice on the second try. I wasn't surprised as the back support was only 'just' sufficient and that was while sitting for a minute, max. So today, I went to two other stores. The first one was way overpriced and none of the chairs thrilled me, so I walked out the door and didn't look back.
The second store required a bit of walking once inside. But I was determined so I made the effort. And it proved fruitful. I found not one but two possible chairs! And neither of them cost the earth! But the one I kept coming back to, and actually sat in for a few minutes, is on back order, anywhere from one to five weeks. And, although I asked, it was not possible to take the floor model as the shipment is supposedly enroute. Sooo, I can either settle for the 2nd of the two which isn't bad at all but not leather (which I prefer), or wait.
I am inclined to wait. The chair was quite novel. It did not have a built-in footrest, but that would have just been a bonus, not really a necessity at all, plus we already have enough footrests. But it did swivel, which I really like. :) And the best part is that the back is adjustable, like a car seat, but easier to adjust simply by pushing back with one's torso to make miniscule adjustments in the firmness. I sat in it, and played with the adjustments and swivelled and smiled to myself. It had 'almost' arms, i.e. the seat sort of continued up to side flips - not very high, enough for a little support but in no way pushing one's arms in - perfect for sitting with a laptop. And the seat was generous in width but not unnecessarily wide. It wouldn't take any more space than the current chair.
So, all in all, today's venture was a good one. :) I just hope I won't have to wait a full five weeks to get the chair! Well, one can always hope! :)
