About an hour ago, I was sitting here in the livingroom, very quietly checking my email etc on my computer when I heard a horrible commotion! I couldn't quite pinpoint where it was coming from but it was from somewhere in the house! Burglars here in the capital area have been becoming bolder lately, breaking in and taking things in broad daylight. I guess I was so quiet that whoever it was didn't realize anyone was home.

I leapt up. My first thought was the sun room 'cause I thought I heard chimes. So I opened the door cautiously but the room was empty. Then I heard a lot more activity; it seemed to be coming from the bedroom.

I headed for the connecting door and shut it quietly behind me as I approached. But the perp must have heard me for by the time I got to the doorway, he was already at the open window and about to depart. He actually had the effronty to turn his head and look at me before he jumped out. Cheeky!

He'd ripped the mesh I had at the window, knocked over a plant so there was water all over the floor as well as a couple of broken cacti limbs. But luckily, no other damage.

It took me a while to set things to rights again; and, sadly, now the window is no longer wide open - my love of fresh air is going to have to give way to being more cautious. Sigh.

But at least I can alert everyone to this burglar: he's black, very lithe, young and cheeky. And, oh yeah, he's a cat!
